Afternoon tea served weekdays, 3 to 5pm; weekends 4 to 5pm. This is a
lovely glassed-in, contemporary restaurant/café located within St.
James' Park, a short stroll from Buckingham Palace. They do a lovely
afternoon tea for £12. The kitchen uses produce sourced fresh from
Britain's farms; organic whenever possible. Seasonal menu. We first
came here for breakfast one morning, where we enjoyed soft-boiled eggs
and toast soldiers, with a pot of perfect tea made with loose leaf
tea. What a way to start the day! (by Tea Lover)

Kandy was the ancient capital of Ceylon. The sign outside the tea room reads, "Nice tea for nice people," and Kandy Tea Room is a nice place! This small but delightful tea room is located down a quaint side street off Kensington Church Street. There are
five tables, and the decor is eclectic, with definite Indian appeal. Lovely English china is used, and there are some pretty cups hanging along the rear wall. Homemade scones and quality tea cakes are their calling card. I had a
cream tea here, and was well pleased with everything. Hours are
Tuesday through Friday, 11am to 5pm; Saturday and Sunday, 11am to 6pm.

The
Orangery at Kensington Palace [Tea room]
Kensington Palace, Kensington Gardens W8; 020-7376-0239
The Orangery, located on the grounds of Kensington Palace, is *the* place in London for a laid-back and enjoyable
afternoon tea! Tea is served beginning at 3pm, and if you're not there when the doors open, be prepared to wait in line. This place is popular, and it's easy to understand why. There are several tea menus to choose from, with prices ranging from £7.95
to £12.95. Everything is fresh and delicious. In addition to the set tea choices, there are lots and lots of fun
à la carte items to choose from, such as black and white sables, all-butter shortbread, spiced apple cake served warm with clotted cream, or toasted crumpets! (The
"Orangery" cake is to die for!) Homemade soup (I had carrot and orange soup ~ yummy) with a cheese scone or bread will run you £3.95. Tea choices include English Breakfast, Earl Grey,
peppermint, chamomile, blackcurrant with ginseng and vanilla, and
lemon and ginger (bags), and Lapsang Souchong, orange blossom, Assam, and Darjeeling (loose leaf). There is also an extensive selection of wines, fruit juices, sodas, and coffees. It doesn't get any better than this for a relaxing respite in the middle of the day. The gardens at Kensington are just lovely and worthy of a stroll after tea. And of course, the Palace itself is a must-see.

This is a charming B&B -- we stayed here a few weeks ago. They
serve a complimentary cream tea (with generous amounts of local Devon
clotted cream) to hotel guests. The B&B is good value for money,
and the owners are very friendly. Highly recommended. Directions: Head
for Torquay sea front and turn towards Paignton. After about half a
mile at Livermead turn right signposted to Cockington and Cockington
Country Park. Keep on this country lane for about half a mile and you
will find the hotel on the left hand side as you enter the village.
