Mrs.
Ticklemore's Tea Cakes & Savories, Akron, OH
Visited:
May, 2008. Meal: Afternoon tea. Type of tea: Loose leaf. Served: In a teapot.
Tea: Excellent. Food: Excellent. Service: Excellent. Appearance:
Excellent.
Comments: We drive up at least three times a year from Columbus to go to this tea room. The Lemon Tart and the
Pecan Squares are our favorites. One of us likes the House Blend and one of us likes the mint leaves. The scones are
wonderful and there are great savories and excellent cucumber sandwiches. The brown sugar cubes are a real treat.
The downside is how much money we spend before we get out of the West Point Market with all of its indulgences.
Would you go back? Yes, can't wait!

Comments: Overall, our experience at Mrs. Ticklemore's was a good
one ... just not a fantastic one. While the server was very friendly and eager to help,
she didn't know much about the menu or the teas (she did say she was brand-new, though). The tea was very
nice, and the scones were outstanding. The tea sandwiches, on the other hand, were nothing special.
The tea room was pleasant enough, but it was hard to ignore the fact that you were in the middle of a bustling
market. It's a very, very nice market, though, and it was fun to browse after having our tea.
Would you go back? Maybe.

Comments: My mom and I go to tea once a month and we've been
to every tea house within a 40-mile radius of Cleveland. This one,
located inside West Point Market, is one of our favorites. The tea
presentation and preparation are lovely, the food (savory trays and
sweet trays and scones) is excellent, and the service is always
top-notch. When you're done with tea, you can spend the rest of the
day shopping in one of the finest markets you'll ever see -- amazing
foods, wines, imports, and of course, teas. A true gem.

Comments: Mrs. Ticklemore's is a lovely tearoom that I would
recommend to anyone. The atmosphere is simple and elegant -- little
tables with flowers and printed tea quotes on the walls. The service
is excellent with a well informed and courteous staff. The server will
bring a tray with cups of their loose tea selection for viewing. After
you make your selection, you are served a lovely pot of tea with a
timer. Their food is wonderful. They also provide highchairs and have
a tea time story hour every other Saturday morning for small children.
All things considered, I would give this establishment 4 stars.

Visited: May, 2008. Meal: Afternoon tea. Type of tea: Loose leaf. Served: In a teapot.
Tea: Good. Food: Good. Service: Good.
Appearance: Excellent.
Comments: The afternoon tea here was ok. They bring you a different selection of tea with each course unlike some tea
rooms that let you decide what kind of tea to get for your whole meal. So it
is a good way to try new teas but if you like a particular kind and it is not the tea choice for today then you are out of luck. The
sandwiches are very good and I wish they had their chicken salad on their regular menu so you could get it to go. The desserts were
ok and my group was disappointed that not everyone got to try one of each type of dessert on the plate. There were four of us but only
three of each dessert. The service was very good. The atmosphere is very nice.
Would you go back? Maybe.

hostess, warmed by through the eyes and the soul, it is a respite to a busy world.
It is a place not only of warmth but of elegance. One feels comfortable, relaxes
and enjoys the time being served daintly and graciously. Tea choices are very fine and served so as to enjoy
every drop. The food is freshly prepared, presented attracitivly and are
pleasing to the pallet. We had a lovely experience celebrating a birthday and look

Meal: Afternoon tea. Type of tea: Loose leaf. Served: In a teapot.
Tea: Excellent. Food: Excellent. Service: Excellent.
Appearance: Excellent.
Comments: This
tea room is a gem! Both my husband and I ordered the afternoon tea. I
chose the Queen Catherine's Blend (black tea) and my husband chose the
Burgundy Cherry. The tea (loose) was brewed in the kitchen and brought
to us in teapots. The food was excellent as was the presentation. The
sandwiches consisted of a calla lily (cream cheese with apricot), half
of a small croissant with chicken salad made with walnut and basil,
banana bread with cream cheese, and a "butterfly" spread with
cucumber and cream cheese. The chicken salad was excellent! The scone
was served warm with cream and strawberry preserves. It was light and
tasty and one of the best I've had at a tea room. Desserts consisted of
a raspberry brownie, pumpkin square with a ginger type of cookie cut out
in tiny maples leaves, mini pecan pie, and a puff-type of pastry with
cream filling and a fresh raspberry. I would highly recommend a visit to
this tea room if you're in the area!

Comments: My daughter, mother, and I were shopping downtown
one day and decided we needed some tea. Churchill's claims to serve
good tea, but the experience left us cold and depressed. The tea was
tepid, and ill-prepared, the sandwiches stale and seemed to take on
other flavours in the fridge. The owners, cold & aloof, and did
little to enhance the service. The odd arrangement of tables was
also very uncomfortable, and left us wishing we had gone somewhere a
bit more cozy and professionally designed. Tea seems to be an
afterthought here, secondary to the china and stuffiness. If you
like depressing British things like overprocessed, stale crackers
(biscuits), jams, boring china, and other grandma-type items, as a
gift shop, this is the place for you!

Comments: I visited Churchill's with a group of friends in
December. It was not a good experience. There was a large variety of
tea, but the white tea ordered was inadequately brewed. The biggest
disappointment was the food. The scones did not taste fresh and the
sweets were just boxed British cookies. The tea concluded with a
slice of packaged plum pudding served with strawberries, a strange

Tea: Fair. Food: Fair. Service: Good. Appearance: Good.
Comments: I
had high hopes for tea at the Cincinnatian Hotel. I can best describe
the experience as "average." The tea was served in the pot,
with the leaves left in. Some may enjoy tea that becomes stronger and
more bitter with each cup, but not I. We were served a small assortment
of finger sandwiches, then pastries, all of which tasted rather dry and
bland, as if they had recently been thawed from the freezer. The
Cincinnatian advertises live harp music, which they confirmed when I
called to make the reservations. However, on the day we were there,
there was no music of any sort. Overall, a nice place to gather to meet
friends, but don't expect a first-rate tea experience.

by Essencha's loose tea selection, and the waitress' tea knowledge. The service was prompt and food was
excellent. I sat and enjoyed my tea for almost an hour. I must say it was the most relaxing time I have had in
such a long time. Best of all, before leaving, I made sure I ordered some of the tea I drank to take and brew at

Comments: This was my first time in a tea room. It was very nice,
clean, and nicely-decorated. We arrived right at the posted opening time and waited for about 5 minutes after that time before the door
was unlocked for business. The tea barista (also the Manager's Assistant) was not rude, yet not really pleasant, just more
utilitarian. Also, they did not have a take-home tea list, nor a fucntioning website with their tea information.
The tea (I had the Silver Needle White tea) was to die for. I will definitely go back just

It is delightful, homey, and cozy. The food delivers
"comfort" and value. The owner is on hand for a
"chat" at all times. The dessert cart is both delightful
and impossible to resist. The service is friendly and professional.
One of the best tea rooms in Ohio if not the entire U.S. Don't miss
this hidden treasure. Visit soon!

Tea: Fair. Food: Good. Service: Good. Appearance:
Good.
Comments: This is a place for coffee drinkers, not tea
lovers. The tea is okay, but tea drinkers are not going to feel very
comfortable here. Some of the scented coffee odors are overwhelming to a
tea visitor. Tea is definitely an incidental, not an emphasis. I
wouldn't recommend it unless one is really thirsty or a coffee drinker.
It is a perfect place for a coffee drinker.

Comments: The Swan House lives up to its reputation as being
amongst the Top 20 tea rooms in North America. I concur with the
previous reviewers who all give it marks of excellence across the board.
Its setting within such a fine, historic house ... beautifully decorated
for teatime.....sets the stage for the delightful repast that follows.
There is a wide selection of loose tea from which to choose, with
recommendations from well-informed staff. The food is some of the best
I've tasted in true melt-in-your-mouth fashion. The service was
knowledgeable, friendly, and gracious. And the gift shop is a
well-stocked tea-lovers delight. Simply put, the Swan House sets a
standard by which other tea rooms would do well to emulate.
Would you go back? Hope so, but we don't live nearby.

Comments: We went to tea on a Monday afternoon, with high hopes
as this was a highly rated tea room and we expected a lot of Longaberger.
I think that might have been a mistake. The food was only marginal.
Everything was a little dried out, as if it had been frozen and thawed a
few times. I wondered if there was a lot of leftover food from the
weekend that they were just trying to get rid of. The sandwiches were
little more than cold cuts on dry bread. No fruits were served. The tea
itself was good, with a good variety. The service, while good, seemed
rushed. There were only a few tables for the sitting we chose, and it
seemed like the wait staff wanted to rush us out, rather than allowing
us to have a leisurely tea.
I probably won't go back. But maybe on a weekend it would be better.

The
Tea Room at Remember When, Kirtland,

Meal: Afternoon tea. Type of tea: Loose leaf. Served: In a teapot.

Comments: I was rather disappointed on my latest visit to
Remember When. It pains me to say it, but I am not sure if I will
return. I came with my sister and a friend for the afternoon tea, which
we ordered in advance. The food was fantastic, as always. I had a garden
salad, the strawberry soup, the sandwiches, and pastries, and a maple
scone. It was more food than I could eat, very well-presented.
However, the service was disappointing. My plate had dried food stuck to
it, and the teacup and saucer had large, unsightly chips in them. I
asked for new dishes and was brought some, but the new ones were still
chipped. The waitress said that we could have our tea either iced or
hot, and my friend ordered hers iced. All three of us were brought hot
tea, however. When I interrupted the server (not the same woman who took
the order) from pouring to tell her that my friend's tea was supposed to
be cold, she looked very peeved and said that "this one doesn't
come iced." We insisted, so she consulted with the waitress and
came back and told us we would have to wait for it to cool down, which
my friend said was fine. It was brought to her in a little while, with a
sprig of mint in a tall, ice-filled glass.
Later, I ordered a second pot of tea, which never came. I figured that
the waitress had forgotten and didn't think much of it. But when she
presented the bill to us, she said "I'm sorry your tea was late,
but we ran out of hot water. You have to take it with you, however,
because I already charged you for it." I was stunned, and insisted
that since I didn't receive it and didn't drink it, I should not have to
pay for it. "Don't you want to take it home?" she pressed.
"I'm not going home," I said, wondering how I was expected to
carry a potful of tea with me. She unhappily went and rewrote the bill
for us.
I think the staff are just overworked. The place was so crowded on that
Wednesday afternoon that we had to ask the management where to park, and
they moved some employee vehicles for us. I have had some wonderful
experiences here, and some not so wonderful ones. Usually the problem is
a long wait for the food, but since we ordered the afternoon tea in
advance this wasn't a problem. The food, however, is really stellar and
worth a visit.

Comments: This tea room is truly a gem! I've been to numerous
tearooms in Florida and Ohio and this was outstanding. The scones were
done to perfection. My mother and I ordered the full afternoon tea and
we were not disappointed. There were maple oat scones, warm from the
oven; chilled strawberry soup (delicious), broccoli cream cheese soup
(delicious -- not heavy at all), salad, and a three-tiered stand with
our sandwiches and desserts. The variety of sandwiches included tuna,
egg salad, a lavender chicken salad with pecans and dried cranberries,
brie puff, cream cheese with raisins. Desserts included a chocolate top
hat, carrot cake, cream cheese brownie, lemon square, mini cheesecake
with fresh blueberries, as well as grapes, fresh watermelon slice, and
beautiful orange nasturtiums for garnish. This is definitely a place
I'll go back to! The staff was friendly and accommodating.

Tea: Average. Food: Good. Service: Poor.
Appearance: Good.
Comments: First I will say that I did have good service and the food was good though I thought the portions
were small for the money. The Dinning room is beautifully decorated but very large and consequently
LOUD! Finally, and the reason I will not go back to this tea room again was the way I was treated I checked
Miss Molly’s tea room’s website and no mention was made regarding the need for reservations. My mother
and I went for my birthday which was a Fri. The hostess asked if we had reservations which we didn’t. She sat
us in a high traffic two top table and actually told us that this wasn’t a very good table but because we didn’t have
a reservation this is where we had to sit. To make things worse there were about 15 tables with reserve
signs on them that were never seated during our entire meal. If you reserve tables
then also place a time limit on how long a table will be held. All customers are
important and deserve to be treated with consideration.
Would you go back? Sorry, no.

Comments: This is my favorite tea room. The service is
wonderful, but it gets busy on the weekends. I suggest visiting through
the week, instead. Be sure to make a reservation!

Comments: The tea room was much larger than I expected and
quite lovely. The food and the tea were fabulous. The place was busy,
even on a weekday, and the service was just a little slow, but not too
bad. The tea shop is to die for!!! Many unique items, including a wide
selection of bone china mugs which are very hard to find.

Comments: Great place for lunch with your friends. The food and
scones are excellent. Also all the different tea pots, cups and saucers.
Nice small town to browse around. Also the Root Candle Company in
located in Medina.

Comments: No question but that Miss Molly's is popular. That
was the problem we encountered. Despite reservations made days in
advance because of a three-hour drive, service was such that I will not
return. We visited on a Saturday and there were many parties present. I
sat with my mother for 25 minutes before being able to flag down the
hostess who finally took our order for tea. No regard was made as to
when the tables were seated and it was apparent that the wait staff were
stretched to their limit. The food and tea were lovely when they did
arrive. The service was miserable.

The
Tea Room at Ashley Place, Medina, OH
Visited:
November, 2005. Reviewed: January, 2006.
Meal: Afternoon tea. Type of tea served: Loose leaf and teabags.
Served: In a teapot.
Tea: Good. Food: Fair. Service: Poor. Appearance:
Fair.
Comments: It was my daughter's birthday. This tea house certainly don't care who's feelings they hurt even
if it is the birthday girl herself. The waitress was in no way going to make things nice for her. They never
apologized after making her cry. The service takes too long. For being a Sat. afternoon there was only two
waitresses waiting on people. Be prepared for being there the whole time 11-3 just to get tea and a
sandwich. My tea by that time was ice cold twice. The food was only fair. I have been there twice, once at their
old location and now their new. By all means they should of kept the old. From the outside it feels like I
was entering an old greenhouse building. The two tea rooms are so small
that with my chair pulled all the way to the table and also the customer behind me that there
was still no room for the waitress to walk. So she handed us the food and we passed it down. What
service. The bathroom needs work. Only one toilet that I saw. In regards to shopping, well put it this way. How
can anyone enjoy shopping when 2 people follow you around watching everything you touch. My children by
all means were not running around or bothering anyone, but the Ashley Place bothered us in such a way I have
been recommending everyone to go elsewhere. Our whole experience was a disappointment.
Would you go back? Sorry, no.
